I usually write stories, mostly fiction, but every once in a while a thought strikes me and gently insists on being written down, something about that glorious, often messy process of writing itself. That’s why I wanted to begin something new, which I’ve called The Unfinished Page.

It won’t appear regularly, but only when inspiration quietly taps me on the shoulder. This is my first small attempt to offer a word of encouragement to fellow writers who long to glorify God through their work, and, in doing so, to be a little light in a dark world. Thank you for reading, and may God bless you.

God Is a Writer

God is a writer too.

Each of us is one of His books, written with great care.

Every day of our lives is a fresh page; the plot advances, details change. New ideas emerge, none of us are living in the final chapter yet.

We are drafts in motion.

Sometimes He rewrites older pages. Sometimes He rearranges scenes that seemed clear yesterday, but take on new meaning today. He always writes with purpose and with love, though. He writes our story with a deep desire to bring us closer to the fulfillment of the most beautiful love story imaginable.

As the main character in the book God is writing, some moments may feel like flaws in the plot, scenes we do not understand and turns we never expected. But God is the Author and Finisher of our story and He always leads us towards the happy ending. What we call faults or mistakes become the very lines that give our story its depth.

God writes because He desires to create something beautiful, because He wants to bless the world with a story worth reading. That is, you and me.

In our small and broken way, we as Christian writers follow that same pattern.

We do not just write books. We long to write stories that transform lives, inspire hearts and create meaning that reaches into eternity.

Easier said than done.

Just as in the book God Himself is writing, our manuscripts resist shaping. We face discouragement, unmet expectations and the sting of criticism. Doubt whispers at all the wrong moments that the story we are working on has little meaning.

But Scripture tells us otherwise: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

No matter what, God keeps writing and so ought we. He does not abandon unfinished drafts. He is crafting a story fit for heaven and so we press on, moving forward, holding our writing banners high for the glory of heaven.

Grace is the editor He provides. Grace does not erase weakness, it redeems it. God does not delete our failures. He transforms them.

Our books may never become worldly bestsellers. But if they warm God’s heart and serve His people, they have fulfilled their purpose and will be bestsellers in heaven.

Divine strength appears where human ability runs thin. On the page, as in life, the cracks allow heaven’s light to enter. Our questions give weight to our faith. Our scars become testimony. God’s power is not revealed in flawless characters or tidy endings, but in redemption that feels earned and real.

So, write forward.

Trust the Author who is still at work in you, and be the author of yet another one of God’s bestsellers.

Your story is unfinished, but the greatest Author of all always finishes what He starts.
